Mix the ingredients. Place frozen pineapple into a blender (I used an immersion blender) and add to it ice cubes and orange juice. Stick to a 2:1 ratio of pineapple to ice. You can always add more ice if needed and if the slushie looks watery to you!
Pulse them. Then set the blender to high speed and pulse the ingredients a few times until the ice and pineapple are crushed to the desired consistency. If the slushie sticks to the sides, scrap it. You do not want to overly smooth the slushie. Otherwise, it will melt quickly while serving it.
Serve it. Taste it and adjust for the sweetness and texture you like and serve it immediately. Enjoy!
Notes
Tips and tricks
Pulse it and do not blend it. This is a great way to ensure a slushie texture with crushed ice and not overly smooth ice.
Add ice in batches. Stick to a 2:1 pineapple-to-ice ratio no matter the type of pineapple you use. You can add more ice if needed. Add more ice if the slushie looks watery to you.
Pick sweet pineapple. The sweet ones smell sweet on the bottom and the leaves on top come out easily.
Sweet it up. Taste the slushie and if needs more sweetness, add sugar or any other sweetness you prefer.
Make it ahead for a party. Simply blend everything together and store it in a container and freeze it. Let it thaw for about 15 minutes at room temperature or until you can scoop it out into serving cups.
