A delicious vegan gravy recipe…
3 tablespoons olive oil (or melted butter)
3 tablespoons wholemeal flour
600ml water or vegetable stock
3 tablespoons soy sauce
salt & freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Heat the oil in a saucepan and add the flour.
Stir over a moderate heat for a few minutes until the flour turns nut-brown.
Standing well back, pour in the water or stock and stir until lightly thickened.
Simmer for 10 minutes, then add the soy sauce and salt & pepper to taste.
