Val’s Luscious Lasagne

This is the best meat lasagna recipe you’ll ever taste.  Everyone asks me for it all the time.

4 x big fat Italian sausages
500g extra lean minced meat
1 pack instant large lasagna
2 x 500g jars spaghetti sauce or your own (which ever flavour tickles your taste buds)
500g shredded mozzarella cheese

500g cottage or ricotta cheese

Cook sausages in frying pan until mostly cooked.  Cut up into small pieces.

Brown minced meat in frying pan.
Add both the sausages and mince meat to the jars of spaghetti sauce in a large pot.
Mix well and let simmer for 1 to 2 hours (depending on how much time you have, but 2 hours is better).
When sauce is ready, preheat oven to 180 degrees Celcius.
Spread a thin layer of the sauce over base of lasagne dish.
Then layer some lasagna sheets.
Pour half of the sauce on top of the sheets.
Then spread half the cottage/ ricotta cheese on the sauce.
Layer with another set of lasagne sheets.
Then spread the rest of the sauce on top of sheets.
Spread the rest of the cottage/ ricotta cheese on top.
Put one more layer of lasagne sheets if desired.
Top the dish with the mozzarella cheese.
Cover with aluminium foil and bake for 30 minutes.
Remove foil, return to oven and and cook until golden brown.
Rest for a good 15 minutes before cutting and serving.
